MHPEA Member Confidentiality Agreement

As a condition of membership with the Mental Health Professionals Equity Alliance (MHPEA), I agree to the following terms related to confidentiality and the protection of sensitive information shared within the organization.

1. Confidential Information

I understand that by joining MHPEA, I may have access to certain confidential, proprietary, and sensitive information, including but not limited to:

  • Discussions, forums, and communications between members.

  • Documents, tools, and resources shared within the membership site.

  • Information related to MHPEA's advocacy strategies, organizational initiatives, and future plans.

  • Personal or professional information shared by members.

 

2. Obligation of Confidentiality

I agree to keep all confidential information private and secure, and I will not share, distribute, or disclose any confidential information to non-members or third parties without prior written consent from MHPEA or the individual member who shared the information.

 

3. Use of Confidential Information
I will use the confidential information only for the purposes of collaboration, networking, professional development, and advocacy within MHPEA. I will not use any confidential information for personal gain or commercial purposes outside of MHPEA's mission.

 

4. Protection of Information
I will take all reasonable measures to protect the confidentiality of information shared within MHPEA's member space, including:

  • Not sharing or copying confidential materials without consent.

  • Not discussing confidential information in public or non-secure environments.

  • Immediately reporting any unauthorized use or breach of confidentiality to MHPEA.

 

5. Duration of Confidentiality

The obligation to maintain the confidentiality of the information extends beyond my membership and remains in effect indefinitely, unless otherwise released in writing by MHPEA or the individual member whose information is involved.

 

6. Consequences of Breach
I understand that any breach of this confidentiality agreement may result in the termination of my MHPEA membership and potential legal action. MHPEA reserves the right to revoke access to the membership site or take any necessary steps to protect its members and its mission.

By submitting this membership form and becoming a member of MHPEA, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Confidentiality Agreement.

MHPEA Member Code of Conduct

Welcome to the Mental Health Professionals Equity Alliance (MHPEA) member site . As a professional organization committed to advancing the field of mental health, MHPEA upholds the highest standards of ethical conduct and professional behavior. This Code of Conduct is intended to foster a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all members. By accessing and participating in the MHPEA member site , you agree to adhere to the following principles:1. Professionalism 

Members are expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism in their interactions on the MHPEA site . This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Respectful Communication: Engage in constructive and respectful discussions. Disrespectful, abusive, or hostile behavior, including discriminatory remarks or personal attacks, will not be tolerated.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information shared within the site. Members are prohibited from sharing confidential discussions, documents, or information outside of the MHPEA sitewithout explicit permission from the source or organization.

  • Collegiality: Foster a spirit of collaboration and mutual support. MHPEA is a community for learning, sharing, and growing, and members should seek to contribute to that atmosphere of collegiality and goodwill.

 

 Confidentiality of Member Information

Members must respect the privacy and confidentiality of other members and the information shared within the site. This includes:

  • Patient/Client Information: Members are strictly prohibited from sharing any confidential client or patient information. If discussing case examples for educational purposes, any identifiable information must be removed to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.

  • Professional Information: Information shared by members, including intellectual property, research, or proprietary tools and resources, must not be shared or distributed without the explicit consent of the contributor.

  • Personal or Non-Professional Use: Members should avoid using the platform for non-professional purposes, including personal disputes or unrelated discussions.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

MHPEA is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive professional community. Members must:

  • Respect Diversity: Recognize and respect the diversity of professional experiences, cultural backgrounds, identities, and perspectives within the MHPEA community.

  • Promote Inclusion: Strive to create a welcoming environment for all members, particularly those from underrepresented or marginalized groups in the mental health field.

  • Avoid Discrimination and Harassment: Discriminatory comments, harassment, or any other behavior that marginalizes individuals based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other protected categories is strictly prohibited.

Intellectual Property and Content Use

Members must respect the intellectual property rights of others. This includes:

  • Proper Attribution: When sharing articles, tools, research, or other resources, members should always provide appropriate credit to the original authors or creators.

  • Content Usage: Do not post, upload, or distribute content that infringes on copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights.

Ethical Practice and Compliance

  • Members are expected to comply with the ethical standards and guidelines of their respective licensing or certifying bodies, such as the American Psychological Association (APA), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), or other relevant professional organizations. This includes adherence to professional boundaries, patient/client confidentiality, and general professional ethics.

  • Members should report any ethical violations they witness or experience within the MHPEA site to the MHPEA leadership.

Reporting Violations

Violations of this Code of Conduct will be taken seriously. MHPEA reserves the right to take disciplinary actions, including suspension or termination of membership privileges, for members who engage in behavior that violates this Code of Conduct. If you witness or experience any violations of this Code of Conduct, please report the issue to MHPEA leadership immediately.

Consequences of Violations

Members found to be in violation of the Code of Conduct may face consequences, including but not limited to:

  • Warning or Reprimand: Minor violations may result in a formal warning or reprimand.

  • Suspension of Access: For more serious or repeated violations, members may be suspended from accessing the site.

  • Termination of Membership: In cases of severe violations, MHPEA reserves the right to terminate membership and site access.

Amendments and Updates 

MHPEA reserves the right to update or amend this Code of Conduct as necessary. Any changes will be communicated to members via the member site or email. By continuing to use the site after such changes, you agree to abide by the updated Code of Conduct.
