Sivie Suckerman, LMHC, ACS

Board Member

Sivie Suckerman is the host and founder of Therapists Unchained podcast and community, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a nationally credentialed Approved Clinical Supervisor. She earned her MA in Clinical Psychology with a Counseling specialization in 2007. Since then, she has worked across diverse settings, including community mental health, social services, school-based programs, residential facilities, crisis intervention, private practice, and group practice. Over the years, she has served as a clinician, clinical supervisor, and Clinical Director, and even held a brief role as Director of Behavioral Health at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Today, she is a small group practice owner at Playful Minds Counseling in Seattle, WA, and a fierce advocate for the mental health field.

Sivie’s involvement in MHPEA stems from her belief that the profession is stronger when united, and from her concern that current systems do not adequately serve clinicians or clients. She is deeply worried about the future of mental health care, particularly the risk of losing the humanity that draws so many to the field. She believes that if clinicians are not cared for, they cannot fully care for their clients. Passionate about a needed paradigm shift, Sivie envisions a culture where professional advocacy uplifts all clinicians—beyond the confines of specific licenses—and where collaboration replaces competition for limited resources.
